About Us

A.P.A.Ri.V. is a small, registered charity whose sole purpose is the care and welfare of abandoned and neglected dogs. Founded twelve years ago, our refuge is located in the hills just outside of the town of Rincon de la Victoria in the Malaga province. The number of dogs varies but usually fifty to sixty dogs are in our care at any given time.

Our primary goal–and dream–is to find a new and safe home for each of our dogs whether in or outside of Spain. In the event a suitable home cannot be found, the dog will remain in our care and live its life out at the refuge. We have a small group of volunteers who work at the refuge on a daily basis to  care for the dogs. A charity shop located in Rincon de la Victoria is also staffed by volunteers. All items are donated and the proceeds of the sales are used solely for the benefit of  the dogs.

We are no different than any other charity in that we always need help. Since we do not receive any municipal or governmental funding, monetary donations are our life line and are always greatly appreciated. We also welcome anyone who is willing to help as a volunteer, to foster a dog and /or become a member of our association. Anyone interested in lending a hand can contact us through this website.
